Editing is fun.
While I’m trying to gather all the threads of the story in a neat and tight bundle, making sure the voices of the characters stay true from beginning to end, ensuring I know what everyone’s motivations, expectations, hopes and dreams are and valiantly trying to capture the whole just right … life keeps intruding at the most inconvenient times.
The water pump decided it didn’t want to work in sporadic bursts, the stand by generator pitched in during one of our weekly power outages in the region by refusing to start, the alternator in one of the vehicles went out 15 minutes before kiddos needed to report to school for the first day, the dryer gave its last hurrah in the middle of drying a batch of clothes, nuisance deer in the back yard trampled and ate the fruit in the orchard, and of course … my 9-5.
And now I sit, stare out the window, sip more coffee and ignore as best as I can the chaos surrounding me. For I want to finish the fourth novel. I want to begin the fifth and final installment of the DeDe series. I’ve taken steps with the fifth book; the plot is outlined and a book cover is on the works. I see the end and I want to reach it … yesterday.
