And let me tell you guys, the anxiety is here. We might have a ton of fun posting absurd facts such as the lack of chips in the area or the gas station gauging the price of gas 24 hours before the storm hits or the massive gridlock in and out of NOLA or the fact that we have to ration our bottles of alcohol or maybe that we call evacuations ‘vacations’ but the fact is that we must do something and smile because we’ve no real choices. We choose to live here and in choosing the location we also choose our disasters. Hurricanes.
I don’t think Isaac would be such a big deal if not for level of uncertainty from all the meteorologists. It is only a Tropical Storm as I type this, but one never knows and Katrina is not so far in the past that we can dismiss any storm threatening to come up the mouth of the Mississippi as inconsequential. Add all this to the ironic fact that Isaac is scheduled to hit seven years to the date since Hurricane Katrina made a soup bowl of NOLA … and well, life might have a sense of humor but most of us don’t.
So I shall bid everyone a happy week as I hunker down with my stash of chips, M&Ms, the 3rd season of True Blood and a couple bottles of Abita beer. I’ve nowhere to go since everything is closed until further notice and nothing to do since I will likely be unable to enjoy any on line time. Thank goodness for the standby generator. Nothing worse than hot beer on a stormy day in my opinion.
